The Partner Focal Point will lead the implementation of WCS support to the TGK REDD+ project. This role involves coordinating between Asity and WCS, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with relevant WCS teams, and overseeing project activities in Fort Dauphin. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience and a background in conservation or environmental projects.

Missions

Coordination and Communication:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between WCS, Asity, and other project partners.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with WCS teams, including the Regional Nature-based Solutions Advisor, Regional Social Safeguards Specialist, and Senior Regional Technical Advisor.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to all stakeholders, including Rio Tinto and other project partners.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the implementation of project activities as outlined in the scope of work.
  • Develop and maintain project work plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to project goals and timelines.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to project implementation.

Technical Support:

  • Coordinate WCS experts to provide guidance and support for the design and implementation of biomass surveys, biodiversity monitoring, and other technical aspects of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with national laws and REDD+ standards, including VCS and CCB.
  • Coordinate WCS experts to support the development and maintenance of robust documentation and M&E systems.

Capacity Building:

  • Facilitate training and capacity-building activities for Asity staff and local stakeholders by coordinating with appropriate WCS experts.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practices in REDD+ project implementation.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government entities, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the establishment of a Madagascar carbon project developers’ working group.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to WCS, Asity, and project financers.
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with donor requirements.
  • Support the integration of recommendations from project advisors into project work plans.

Profil

  • Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Natural Resource Management, Project Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5 years of project management experience, preferably in conservation or environmental projects.
  • Experience working with international NGOs and local communities in Madagascar.
  • Familiarity with REDD+ projects and standards (VCS, CCB) is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships within and between organisations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Fluency in French and Malagasy, with professional-level English.
